Australia, more than Paul Hogan, more than even beer; You blokes know how to have a good time and you bring the family along and, can I just say...thanks you. Without Australia I would have almost no great overlanding youtube porn and frankly, videos like this one entirely are my favorites, despite the...um...narration.

That's a stock Pajero (Montero for us Yankes) pulling a, probably 3000 lbs trailer through stuff I would be bragging all up and down that I did solo in my land cruiser with locking diffs and beefy tires. The fact that the family is there, along for the ride is, well, just icing on the cake. My hat is off to you Mr. and Mrs. adventurous Australian.

The tarp is fairly common old school practice for fording because it keeps a pressure wave out of your fan, back before fan clutches were common, you could break a fan or stall and engine, and with modern electronic fans, its considered a safe bet agaist breaking the more fragile blades. Ad about the not getting stuck...for real! Whats more amazing about that diesel sound is that is a 3.2 liter i4 with only 169hp and 259 ft lbs. the things these people do with so little is why the get big respect

I've always said you haven't truly been 4wding until you've had the whole 'open the door and water pours out' scenario.

FYI the reason why most of these vehicles are near stock is because they are tourers. They'll do 3-5000km trips. Bigger tyres are just going to ruin your fuel economy, and there aren't many places to fill up.

Hopefully heading up to Cape York later this year, might be doing this track. Cannot wait.
